Going it alone

Managing your own finances is a big responsibility - and this is magnified when you are going it alone. Just ask Kim!

If you are a lone parent like Kim, you can find out about some of the things you can do to manage this change and protect your income here: when things go wrong.

The following organisations might also be useful:

Citizens' Advice
One Space for Single Parents
The Government's Department for Work and Pensions
Gingerbread (which offers support to single parents)

Here's some more advice from Kim: "When you are managing finances alone it is difficult to remember all that needs to be done and you may feel that you are constantly juggling your money. Direct Debit does take the weight off your shoulders when it comes to essential bills. At least you know they'll be paid in full, on time and that there's no risk of red reminders or penalty charges."
